Question:

Excuse me, Aunt Guo. When was Dakeng Cultural Association established?

Answer:

It was established in 2004. But we have engaged in the community service since 2001.

Question:

What is the main purpose of establishing Dakeng Cultural Association?

Answer:

We mainly do the Community Renaissance Program, or called CRP for short. CRP has established almost eleven years. It delveops later than the other country, but Dakeng Cultural Associaton was built earlier in Taichung. The main job is to design Dakeng community empowerment. There are five villages in Dakeng and each of them has a community developmental association to provide people the tour guide services of Dakeng’s nature, ecology, humanity, tourism and sightseeing.

Question:

How is the organization of Dakeng Cultural Association going?

Answer:

In the organization we chose twelve Members of Board. The Member of Board chose Executive Supervisors. Then the executive supervisors would vote for the Director General and the Executive Director. The organization is as the same as the Civil Organization. They all belong to Social Affairs Bureau, Taichung City Government.

Question:

How can you get the working staff?

Answer:

We are all volunteers. We are housewives, retired teachers and retired civil servants, etc. Like me, I was the voulunteer because of the interest.

Question:

Are the working staff the locals in Dakeng?

Answer:

Most of them are the locals, but we are not restricted to be. All the people who live in Taichung City can be our members.

Question:

What have you done in these recent years?

Answer:

“Research on Heping Village Developmental History.” We held the “bamboo children toy” by Council for Cultural affairs, so we trained a group of people who were expert in bamboo art and ecological presenters. We also published the “Tour guide to Walking Trail No.5 of Dakeng,” which was organized by the volunteers through the field study.

Question:

Why did you make the “Tour guide to Walking Trail No.5 of Dakeng” only?

Answer:

Taiwanese mountains are mostly caused by the earthquake—the earht’s crust compressed each other. Walking Trail No.3-4 are exposed, so they would collapse easily because of the risky landform. In addition, only some specific plants can grow there, so there are not many tall plants. Walking Trail No.5 is on the crest line where there are plentiful fagaceae Species and Beech Species etc. That’s why we made the “Tour guide to Walking Trail No.5 of Dakeng” only.

Question:

What is the current work?

Answer:

The association would plan the schedule of the next year each year. The main work this year is to do “the reasearch on the temple distributions.” There are total seventy temples—twenty to thirty temples and more than forty Fude temples.

There are many kinds of temples such as Taoism, buddhism and Yiguandao etc. Each religion has many factons. So far, we have invited the specialists to do the inner training for the volunteers so that they can have a deeper understanding of the temples and the gods. After that, the volunteers start to do the research and will publish the book this February.

Question:

Are there  any promotions?

Answer:

Yes. There are many activities such as bamboo children toys, Earthquake Park, Jhengjyue temple, Fude temple, tabaccobarn, tō sat ang etc. They are unique and are promoting.

Question:

What is the most representative?

Answer:

The most representative activity is “ Dakeng’s nostalgic pictures exhibition” by the nearby elementary students at the moment.

Question:

Does Dakeng Cultural Association belong to the government or the private organization?

Answer:

We belong to the Civil Organization, a non-profit organization.

Question:

Where does the budget come from?

Answer:

The association would plan a project first and apply for the budget from the government. If the project is passed, then we can get the budget; if not, then we can’t get the money.

Before Dakeng Cultural Association was established, the volunteers had to pay their own money to do the activities from 2001~2004.

Question:

What do think to promote Dakeng effectively?

Answer:

We can focus on “ Eco-industrial tourism” to get an effective promotion.

Question:

Where can be the representative attractions?

Answer:

1.The old maple trees. 2. Macaque Park. 3. Guangsi Suspension Bridge.

The maple tree in the Circle is the landmark of Dakeng. The old farmers also take the bushy maples  as an index of the harvest.

Question:
