Wild geese’s footprints on the snow—life leaves trace

At that time, I was young and was going to graduate from my university. I came to Yu-Jen Elementary School for the first time. There was a Sister who wore a white habit in the small office on the left side of patio. She said to me friendly, “Take your time to visit here!” It was a warm day in March and flowers were flourishing in the patio. I went to the right side of the stairs and saw some children who like angels and wore white shirts with red bow ties and said politely, “How are you?” to me with innocent sound. At that moment, some butterflies were flying around. I saw the scene and felt so touched. I told myself, “This is the place where I am going to work.”

Then I started my teaching life for the first year. There were several young teachers who lived in classrooms on the 4th floor—those classrooms were their dormitories. There were only three grades and six classes in our school and faculty were not many. Those youngest teachers in Taiwan were guided by the youngest principal—Sister Chang, Li-Fan to handle the school with passion.

During the period, students, students’ parents and teachers were family. Principal Chang always took us to watch movies and “The Fiddler on the Roof” impressed me a lot. The first president of parents association, Mr. Pei-Yuan Lin took us to gather fruit and he was surprised by my climbing skill. My colleagues were like my sisters and discussed teaching experience with each other and got along well with students.

School affairs are getting improved and Yu-Jen is growing up gradually. Students’ schoolwork and grades, ethics, and each competition are excellent under the guidance of second principal—Sister Li-Lan Shih. Every time our teachers bring students to attend competitions, everyone will pay attention to Yu-Jen Elementary School. We are so proud of our school.

Now Yu-Jen is going to be 40 years old and students of Yu-Jen are excellent in every field. In addition, I have a great improvement here and the past is not like smoke which will disappear. Every moment in Yu-Jen imprinted on my mind.
