The Red building resounds, the feeling resounds

Around 40 years ago, those culture and education institutes, such as Taichung Park, Mayor's Mansion, Taichung Stadium, National Taichung First Senior High School, Former Central Broadcasting Company-Taichung Office were built along Shuang-Shih Rd. and plus Confucius Temple and Yu Jen Catholic School, Shuang-Shih Rd. became the most cultural street. Present Confucius Temple was Air Force Elementary School before. The area from north of BianDian Village on the Shuang-Shih Rd. to Pei-Tun Road is a plant region of vegetable, rice, asparagus, and green asparagus.

One day I found that this area was in soil preparation, and I saw some Fathers during construction and thought,“Maybe they are establishing a church.”When I rode my scooter to pass the area, I stopped to examine and got an answer. After the school gate was set on the plate “Yu Jen Catholic Elementary School,”and Yu Jen Elementary School started to influence me a lot from the moment.

In 1971, when I almost graduated from National Taichung University, I always detoured from Wu-Chuan Rd. to Shuang-Shih Rd. when I was on the way home. The purpose was that I missed the Red Building which was a building with a red old school gate, red window frames, and red railings. While I was riding scooter, I was thinking that the school was beautiful, close to my home, and also a Catholic school, why not recommend myself to the school? Therefore, with my brother's accompany, I visited the Principal Chang Li Fen. Because I had not done with the military service, Principal Chang only gave me an“Advance Agreement of Employment,”I felt that my dream was going to come true during military service.

The new building of Yu Jen is classic and splendid and shows Jesus’ great love. Jesus garden of the central yard of the old building, eucalyptus oil trees in the playground, and flame trees with students’ words cards appear into my view. Those scenes are kept in my heart deeply and the longer times went by, the deeper the mark is in my heart.

I was done with military service as a reserve officer in 1973, and I finally entered the“family”which I guard for my whole life. Yu Jen is accompanied with me for over 30 years and there are ripples and frustrations and also let me feel God's grace. I love Yu Jen and feel that students of Yu Jen, sisters, and teachers accept me in their heart.
