Some business people also established a new culture of hot spring bathing in Dakeng and that added a new leisure place in Dakeng. Now the residents of Taichung City can have hot springs to revive those weary bones with a great value massage. There are many places to have hot springs in Dakeng. How does the hot spring occur?

  As the sea water permeated to the earth core, it became hot water after warming by the terrestrial heat and then turned into the famous seabed hot spring by pressure. The spring of Dakeng belongs to sulphur spring with a few sulphur materials. The temperature is between 53°C and 93°C. It was reported that it has the magic curative effect! The spring area is located on the intertidal of south east coast with many flat fringing reef shores, so there are many active fishes, crabs and intertidal creatures here.

Kinds of hot springs

  According to the chemical substances of the hot springs, there are chloride spring, sodium bicarbonate spring, sulfate spring, sodium bicarbonate spring, carbonated bicarbonate spring, salt spring, common salt spring, saline bitter spring, gesso spring and bitter spring. According to the property of its geology, Taiwanese hot springs can be identified as igneous rock hot spring, metamorphic rock spring and sedimentary rock spring. According to the physical nature of the hot spring, there are common hot spring (the temperature is under the boiling point ), intermittent spring ( the water is under the boiling point but springs up intermittently), bubbling spring ( the water reaches the boiling point), fountain spring ( the water is above the boiling point but it's also a kind of intermittent spring), air vent spring or sulfur air vent spring and hot muddy spring. According to the temperature of the spring, there are low temperature hot spring ( 25°C~49°C), medium temperature ( 50°C~74°C), high temperature (75°C~96°C) and hot boiling hot spring (above 97°C). There are main five kinds of hot springs as the followings.

Carbonated hot spring

  The characteristic of this hot spring is it is has low temperature and helps the blood circulation to improve the functions of heart and blood vessel. At first, it feels cold but get hotter gradually. The people who suffer from kidney illness or indigestion are not suitable for this kind of spring. Carbonated hot spring has the treatment for high blood pressure, heart attack, rheumatism, arthritis and the coldness of hands and feet.

Sulphur hot spring

  Sulphur hot spring is also called " Stinking hot spring ". It can prevent itching, remove poison in human body and a good cure of chronic dermatosis. It can soften the stratum corneum. People who are weak or the old people had better not use the soap before having a hot spring.

Sodium chloride hot spring

  It is also called "Salt spring". The salt would be sticked on the skin to improve the tissue on the skin after bathing. People whose skin is easily allergic is not suitable for this hot spring. Salt hot spring has the good treatment for the coldness of hands and feet, anemia, diabetes and allergic bronchitis. People who have pulmonary tuberculosis and high blood pressure are restricted.

Sodium hydrogen carbonate hot spring

  This spring can afford the moisture to the skin and has the functions of whitening and soften the stratum corneum. Women are suitable for having this hot spring. People who got burns can reduce inflammation or remove the scars by this spring as well. This spring also has good treatments for paralysis and neuralgia.

Water hot spring

  It is also called " Simple hot spring ". This kind of hot spring is softer without color and taste. It can help the blood circulation and relieve the hurt of the muscle. It can neutralize the hydrochloric acid in gastric juice and has the treatment for the gout, diabetes, chronic gastritis, chronic gall bladder, inflammation, uric acid calculus and cholelithiasis. Therefore, it is praised the bath of liver and gall.

 The advantages of having a hot spring

  Dakeng's hot spring belongs to weak alkali carbonated hot spring about 60°C. It has the magic treatments for relieving the stress, the boold circulation and other diseases. But don's depend too much on the hot spring for curing the disease because having a hot spring must be beneficial to enhance the metabolism under the relaxing circumstance.  

Dakeng hot spring

  The hot springs of Dakeng belong to sodium hydrogen carbonate hot spring at PH 7-8. It is also called sodium bicarbonate spring or the beauty of the hot spring.It has an remarkably effect on human skin without the sulfur smell to irritate the nose. The temperature, below 50°C, is lower than the others. People won't smell the sulfate and its temperature is lower than other hot springs.
